EnergySmart CNY is partnering with our neighboring Regional Clean Energy Hubs to present at a meeting hosted by Finger Lakes Greater Region – NY chapter of the Climate Reality Project and Climate Change Awareness and Action. The event is open to the public and you are welcome to attend!

The NYSERDA Regional Clean Energy Hubs were established to help New Yorkers access and navigate opportunities arising from the clean energy economy, such as incentives to lower the costs of clean energy technologies (heat pumps or EVs) or clean energy career opportunities. But there’s a lot of information to digest and people may not know where to start to hook up with these. For the advocates attending the meeting, the Energy Hubs are a valuable resource for information to take to your communities.

Three of the energy hubs are based within the FLGR-NY Chapter’s region: Southern Tier (Smart Energy Choices), Central New York (EnergySmart CNY) and Finger Lakes (Amped). Our meeting will feature a panel with representatives from these hubs:

  • Devin Bialy and Carol English, Community Energy Advisors (Southern Tier)
  • Brett Peters, Commercial Energy Advisor (Finger Lakes)
  • Lindsay Speer, Senior Energy Planner (Central New York)

The panel members will discuss which counties are covered by each of the Hubs and how to connect with them, and updates on available incentives. The NYSERDA website lists some examples of the hubs’ functions:

  • Assist with accessing job training and in the clean energy sector
  • Discuss a home energy assessment and why it would be useful
  • Help someone fill out an application for a free home energy assessment
  • Show what types of energy incentives a person or business may qualify for
  • Share information about clean energy upgrades and equipment like, heatpumps, solar energy, and weatherproofing, plus available incentives to reduce costs
  • Find a qualified contractor to perform clean energy upgradesAfter the presentations from the individual panel members there will be ampletime for questions and discussion.
